What are Vibro Molded Bricks?
Vibro-molded bricks are construction components developed by Sahara Tecnologia. They feature the characteristics of modular bricks, but with the added advantages of concrete. The main benefit of vibro-molding lies in the manufacturing process, which allows the use of materials such as stone powder, gravel, sand, or even construction waste—reused through a qualification process of the raw material.
Each unit offers specific features and benefits for your construction project. As a builder, you must understand which component is best suited to your design. In addition to its ecological appeal—enabling the reuse of materials that would otherwise become debris—vibro-molded bricks are significantly lighter than other types, weighing 20% to 50% less than similar-sized components. Best of all, they can cost up to 50% less than soil-cement bricks.
Advantages of Manufacturing Vibro-Molded Modular Bricks
Strength:
Like any other concrete or soil-cement component, vibro-molded bricks must undergo a curing process, which is essential for determining their final strength. After production, the bricks should be stored in a closed and humid environment for 28 days before they are ready for use.
Precision:
Vibro-molded bricks offer high dimensional accuracy since they are not subjected to heat during manufacturing. This eliminates thermal expansion and deformation, which commonly occurs with conventional bricks.
Texture:
These bricks should be uniform and well-compacted, free of cracks or fractures, ensuring proper installation, strength, and durability. The surface texture may vary from smooth to rough, depending on the materials and conditions used in production.
Versatility:
There is no fixed standard for vibro-molded bricks, which allows for the production of custom pieces tailored to specific project requirements. Additionally, it is possible to manufacture bricks in a variety of colors—something not typically feasible with conventional bricks.
Lightweight:
Vibro-molded bricks are 20% to 50% lighter than soil-cement bricks of the same size. This is due to the materials used in their production and the fact that they do not require high compaction, reducing the amount of material needed.
Eco-Friendly:
The production of vibro-molded bricks can incorporate pre-selected construction debris. This practice helps preserve the environment by repurposing materials that would otherwise be discarded.
What is the strength of the Vibro-Molded Brick compared to conventional soil-cement bricks?
The vibro-molded brick has superior strength and uses less cement in its production. Depending on the type of aggregate material used, the cement contributes 100% to its strength, acting entirely without restrictions.
What is the investment cost of this component?
Compared to soil-cement bricks, vibro-molded modular bricks offer a significantly reduced cost. This is due to the efficient use of cement—nearly 100% of the cement used contributes to the brick’s strength—and a low compaction ratio of only 10%. The standard mix ratio is 10 buckets of raw material to 1 bucket of cement.
In contrast, soil-cement bricks are compacted at 35% of their volume and typically use a ratio of 7 buckets of soil to 1 bucket of cement—which means less aggregate but more cement per unit. In practical terms, vibro-molded bricks can cost up to 50% less than traditional soil-cement bricks.
Can Vibro-Molded Bricks Be Considered Eco-Friendly?
Yes. Vibro-molded bricks are considered environmentally friendly because they:
- Use raw materials sourced from licensed quarries and ports;
- Utilize materials that are abundantly available in many regions;
- Do not require kiln curing, reducing energy consumption and emissions.
What Are the Benefits of Using Vibro-Molded Bricks in My Project?
- Speed and Efficiency in construction;
- Reduced labor costs due to ease of handling and precision fit;
- Versatility—suitable for all types of buildings;
- Cost savings of up to 50% compared to traditional construction methods;
- Cleaner and more sustainable building process.
