What are concrete tiles or concrete vault slabs?
Concrete vault slabs or tiles are widely used in Europe and some South American countries. However, this product is still little known in Brazil, despite having huge growth potential. The advantages compared to ceramic tiles are significant, especially when it comes to work safety and durability.
In terms of the weight of the piece, the concrete version is indeed heavier than the ceramic and styrofoam ones. However, after the slab is concreted, it becomes lighter, and its strength can reach up to 350 kg, offering a high level of resistance. In contrast, ceramic tiles have low resistance, which can make the slab construction process risky. Workers during this phase must be careful not to step on the ceramic tile and break it, as this could cause a serious accident on the construction site.
During the concreting phase of the project, you will notice cost savings because, in a 10 m³ house where you would normally use 6 cm of concrete, you can use only 3 cm—that is, half of what you would invest with ceramic tiles. Regarding weight, in the same 10 m³ structure, 6 cm of concrete amounts to 18,000 kg, while 3 cm of concrete weighs only 9,000 kg, and offers much greater strength.
Finishing
Concrete tiles or vault slabs are a good alternative for those aiming to create a safer and lighter slab, as well as a more sustainable option compared to ceramic pieces.
Here are some advantages of this product compared to ceramic tiles:
– Concrete tiles are eco-friendly since they are not subjected to a firing process during manufacturing;
– Easier and more economical finishing;
– Reduction of the concrete layer in the slab;
– Greater safety during slab construction;
