Eco-Friendly Soil-Cement Brick
Eco Bricks are a modern option for those looking to build a home, live well, and, above all, enjoy a higher quality of life. The Soil-Cement Eco Brick is a more affordable component to produce, which directly reduces the overall cost of construction.
It is considered eco-friendly because it is made only from sandy-clay soil (composed of 70% sand and 30% clay), water, and cement—without the need for firing in kilns. This means anyone can produce eco bricks after receiving proper theoretical and practical training with specialized professionals.
7 Steps to Manufacture Eco Bricks
To manufacture eco-friendly bricks, you will need a manual or semi-automatic press, a JAG soil crusher or sieve, sandy-clay soil (70% sand and 30% clay), cement, and water.
1st: Preparing the Soil
With a mixture of 7 buckets of soil and 1 of cement, you will make a pre-mix using a hoe, and with the help of a watering can or hose, sprinkle a little water.
Next, use a shovel to scoop the material and throw it into the top opening of the JAG crusher. Repeat the same process once more, and then place the material into buckets.
2nd: Adjust the machine to start production.
Regule o equipamento de acordo com o modelo que será produzido, conforme a imagem abaixo.
3rd: Compaction of the Ecological Bricks.
Using the buckets of soil, place them into the silo without removing the buckets, as this way the equipment’s moisture will not be easily lost.
Now you can compact the bricks according to the operation of your press. A professional manual press has a compaction of 1.5 tons with the effect of 6 tons.
4th: How to stack the newly compacted Soil-Cement Ecological Bricks.
Stack the bricks on pallets to a height of one meter, so they can later go through the brick curing process. An important detail often seen in the market when stacking is that bricks are placed with their face down, which is incorrect. The correct way is to stack the bricks with the visible face up, with the male side facing upwards.
5th: Equipment adjustment to produce other pieces.
According to your needs, in this fifth step, you can change the press molds to produce other brick models such as: half brick, channel brick, smooth modular brick, curved edge brick, solid interlocking brick, conventional solid brick, soil-cement paver for decoration (tile), decorative coating tile, and tramela brick (decorative).
6th How to clean the Ecological Bricks press.
6th How to clean the Ecological Bricks press.
After using the press, at the end of the period, the equipment must be disassembled, washed, and lubricated to preserve and maintain its production efficiency. During use, every 5 to 10 bricks, the molds should be cleaned with a medium-sized nylon brush to remove any material buildup.
7th How to cure the Soil-Cement Ecological Bricks.
A highly important procedure is the curing stage. Immediately after finishing a stack of manufactured bricks, it should be covered with a tarp or plastic sheet to prevent losing the moisture that is essential for proper curing.
1st Day – Do not wet the bricks; just keep them covered with plastic or tarp.
2nd Day – Lightly spray the bricks with water.
3rd to 5th Day – Thoroughly wet the bricks using a hose.
6th Day onward – Store the bricks.
The ecological brick can be used in construction starting from the 15th day.
For transportation, it is recommended starting from the 28th day.

Send your soil for analysis!
How to check if my soil is suitable for making Ecological Bricks
To send the soil sample for analysis, the soil must be collected from at least 50 cm deep. You will need to use an excavator to dig approximately 50 cm and take pure soil. The soil must not contain roots or any organic material, and it should not be sifted.
We recommend using a mayonnaise jar, a butter container, or even a well-sealed plastic bag. Glass containers can break, and poorly sealed bags can spill during shipping. Send your personal details and contact phone number. We need to know precisely where the soil was taken from and your information so we can provide the analysis results.

Marketing of Ecological Bricks
The marketing of ecological bricks, like any other product, requires some commercial effort, especially on the part of the seller to promote the products in their region. The fact that these bricks are not yet available in your area can be a great business opportunity for you to sell them there.
To sell, you should present the advantages to your potential customers and especially make demonstrations so they can see and understand the benefits of using the bricks in their construction. Use promotional tools such as Social Media, YouTube, WhatsApp, Email marketing, and especially word-of-mouth marketing. Find not only customers but also partners who will use your product and, most importantly, recommend it to others—these people will be your best promoters.

Construction with Ecological Bricks
What is it like to build with Ecological Bricks?
Building with ecological bricks offers the greatest advantage in terms of investment, as a construction project of the same size as a conventional one can save you up to 60% of the total investment by the end of the project. This advantage comes from several factors related to ecological bricks that contribute to these savings, from the cost of the bricks themselves to the much faster construction time. A house built with the conventional system usually takes about 4 months to complete, while with the modular construction system and soil-cement ecological bricks, you will spend only 15 days.
How to do electrical installation with Ecological Bricks
All wires and pipes are embedded in the holes of the bricks, eliminating the old characteristic of dirty construction sites full of debris. By running the electrical wires through the holes in the bricks, you will save electricity because of the air chambers inside the wall. The electrical wires will be constantly cooled, meaning they won’t heat up and cause high energy consumption. On the contrary, there will even be savings due to this internal cooling.
Can I use Ecological Bricks in houses with more than one floor?
One of the main questions people interested in using ecological bricks in their constructions have is whether they can be used in buildings with more than one floor. The answer is YES. What will determine the number of floors is the foundation and the columns of your construction; the brick functions only as formwork, especially in a modular construction system, which includes beams and columns that keep the house stable. We recommend consulting a civil engineer to perform the structural calculations for your project to ensure everything is done in the best possible way.
Coating with Soil-Cement Ecological Bricks
Wall coatings can be done the same way as in conventional construction. If you want to use the bricks exposed, we recommend applying a waterproofing agent.
Plaster: Ecological Brick VS Ceramic Brick
Plastering is another great advantage of ecological bricks. Whereas before you would apply a 3 cm plaster layer, with ecological bricks you only need about 3 mm (roughly the thickness of a toothpick) because of their modularity. The wall already comes properly squared, requiring less plaster—just enough to make the surface flat and smooth like a conventional wall.
Laying of Ecological Bricks
Another material that provides savings in your construction with ecological bricks is the mortar. You have the option to use none, but if you choose to use it, you can make a simple and inexpensive mixture using the soil itself and white glue. Apply this mixture using a funnel made of courvin and place it on the bricks.
Resistance of Ecological Bricks
Are Ecological Bricks resistant?
Thermoacoustic Ecological Bricks
Do Ecological Bricks provide thermal and acoustic insulation?
The holes in ecological bricks not only make your construction faster and more precise but also offer another great advantage for residents. These holes form air chambers that provide thermal and acoustic insulation, helping to regulate the indoor temperature and reduce external noise. With all these benefits, the impact on residents’ lives is entirely positive—they will enjoy better health because the bricks do not retain moisture, preventing the growth of mold, and they will have a higher quality of life by living in a consistently comfortable and quiet environment due to the reduction of external noise.

The most important thing is to have legal authorization for the soil, so you can extract it in accordance with the law. There are two ways to find the soil: you can use your own soil to produce ecological bricks and build your own house (for personal use only), or purchase soil from sand ports that sell the material.
A tactile test will help you perform a preliminary analysis of your soil to determine if it is possible to produce ecological bricks with that raw material.
If you would like a complete analysis of your material with a quality score from 0 to 10, by purchasing a press from Jarfel//Sahara, you will have access to specialized technical support, where you can perform this soil analysis free of charge.
