- My House Project
The My House Project was a housing initiative we developed in partnership with the State Government of Amazonas. Our goal was to provide homes for families who lacked the financial means for adequate housing. To achieve this, we created a program that was both sustainable and significantly more affordable than traditional construction methods.
We introduced soil-cement eco-bricks — the main element that made the program more accessible to families. In total, over 30,000 families benefited from this initiative. One of the most remarkable aspects was that the residents themselves took part in every stage of building their homes, from brick production to electrical and plumbing installations.
Training and support were provided by Grupo Aguilar, who also supplied the machinery. Our focus was to ensure that all residents received professional training, opening the door to future job opportunities. During the training, participants learned how to work with the modular construction system — an innovative building method using interlocking bricks and blocks that speeds up construction. Beyond being quick, the system is highly intuitive, requiring only basic technical guidance for anyone to start working with modular materials.
Eco-bricks, in addition to being low-cost and sustainable, contribute to improved living conditions. Thanks to the holes in the bricks — which act as micro-chimneys — moisture that typically accumulates in walls is vented out. This prevents the growth of mold and fungi, which can cause respiratory issues and attract dust mites. It also protects furniture from the damage caused by damp walls.
We are proud to have been part of this transformative program, witnessing every stage of its development and ultimately sharing in the joy of more than 30,000 families as they moved into their new homes.
